Experience in the hospitality industry? We’re looking for an experienced Waiter/Waitress for Barraca Amsterdam who can manage a section independently and ensure our guests have a great evening.
Job description
A busy night? You’ll make sure every guest feels welcome.
A Saturday evening at Barraca. The restaurant is full, the music is playing, and guests are enjoying our Rodizio experience at their tables. You’ll navigate your section with a clear overview, know exactly what’s happening at your tables, and ensure our guests have everything they need.
For Barraca Amsterdam, we’re looking for an experienced Waiter or Waitress who knows the hospitality trade inside out. You don’t need to be told how to work your section, when to be at a table or how to respond to a guest’s needs. You spot what needs doing, take care of it and, together with your colleagues, ensure a fantastic evening.
Experience in front-of-house service is therefore an absolute must for this role.
This is Barraca Amsterdam
Barraca is the Claus Group’s Brazilian Rodizio Grill & Bar concept. An evening with us is all about food, drink, atmosphere and, above all, a great experience. Our Passadores walk through the restaurant with large skewers straight from the churrasco grill and carve the meat at your table. In addition, there is unlimited access to the extensive Fresh Market Table and a variety of served side dishes. Naturally, this is accompanied by a great selection of drinks. From our cocktails and Brazilian specialities to beer, soft drinks and wine: from behind the bar, you’ll ensure the restaurant runs smoothly.
At Barraca Amsterdam, it’s all about the experience. From a relaxed drink to large-scale events: our guests can count on excellent service, an atmospheric setting and a perfectly curated drinks menu. As Bar Manager, you’ll play a key role in this.
Following the success of Barraca Hoofddorp, we’ve opened our doors in Amsterdam. And we’re now looking for new team members to join us in the restaurant.
What will you be doing?
As a Waiter / Waitress, you’ll play a key role in the overall guest experience. You’ll welcome guests, work independently in your own section and ensure that service standards are maintained throughout the evening.
Your duties will include:
Welcoming and looking after our guests;
Working independently and managing your own section;
Taking and serving drink orders;
Advising on our drinks menu and responding appropriately to guests’ requests;
Explaining our Rodizio concept and ensuring guests understand how the evening will unfold;
Maintaining active contact with your tables and being on hand at the right moment;
Identifying when guests need something and responding immediately;
Ensuring a smooth flow and good timing within your section;
Collaborating with Passadores, the bar, the kitchen and other front-of-house colleagues;
Handling payments correctly;
Carrying out mise-en-place and preparing the restaurant for the shift;
Ensuring a tidy, well-maintained and professional working environment;
Contributing to a positive atmosphere within the team and in the restaurant.

What you bring to the role
We’re looking for someone who understands what it means to work in a busy restaurant and who actually thrives on it.
You have proven experience in front-of-house roles within the hospitality industry;
You can manage a section independently;
You’re welcoming and find it easy to connect with people;
You have a good overview and remain calm even during peak times;
You work efficiently and in an organised manner without losing focus on the guest;
You have a commercial mindset and naturally spot opportunities for upselling;
You value teamwork and help colleagues when needed;
You are flexible with your availability, particularly in the evenings and at weekends;
You have a good command of Dutch and/or English and are authorised to work in the Netherlands.
What do we offer you?
Of course, we also look after our colleagues well. That’s why you can count on:
A competitive salary commensurate with your experience, starting at €2,468.35 gross per month based on full-time employment (38 hours per week), which works out at €14.99 per hour.
A pension scheme through PH&C

Travel allowance from 7.5 km one way for the commute between home and work.
A 20% staff discount across all Claus Group brands.
A €250 net referral bonus when you refer a new colleague.
Opportunities for personal development.
A friendly and informal working environment where hard work and fun go hand in hand.
A fresh staff meal during your shift (at the tax-deductible rate).
Regular fun staff activities and company parties.
And perhaps most importantly: you’ll be joining an organisation where colleagues know and help one another, and celebrate successes together.
Can you picture yourself walking amongst crowded tables, our Passadores and guests enjoying an evening at Barraca? Then apply straight away. We’d love to meet you!
